$99.00

Desert Ironwood must be dead for many decades before it’s ready to be carved. Sun, rain, wind, dust, bugs, they all take their toll eating away the soft areas of the dead wood. This stone-like wood is so hard and dense that it sinks in water. Given the scarcity of employment opportunities, in this harsh desert environment, the Seri Indians have developed creative ways to eke out a modest living. As a family they work on each carving. Their hard work, patience and creativity put food on their table, and a smile on your face. Ironically this dying art produces a gem that will live for centuries after we are all gone, enjoy it while you can.

It will be shipped from California, only to an address in USA, for $10.95. We ship within 3 business days.
